I have a BA in business and I am thinking about job opportunities in the Navy?
Bydemarcus questioned:
Is there any links that list the jobs the Navy has? Also, since i have a college degree will my rank be any higher? and will I get paid more since I have a degree? Or does my degree mean nothing?

Things have changed. Having a degree increases your chances for OCS. Nothing is promised anymore. I know a Sr. MSGT in the Air Force who has his master’s in meteorology.
you can enlist as an E3. what ratings you qualify for depends on your line scores. a BA in business is not competitive for OCS.
If you provide a copy of your official transcripts you will be enlisted 2 paygrades higher to paygrade E-3 instead of E-1.
What jobs are availible to you depend on a number of things.
First your AVAB (entrance exam) scores.
Second physical quals (i.e. normal colour perception)
Third is moral eligablity (any record of police involvement other than minor traffic offences or history of drugs.
Fourth is which is your area of interest.i.e Electonics, Engineering etc.
Last but not least is what the Navy needs.
When you go to MEPS for processing that is when all these things come together and our job classifiers make the offer on the type of job and enlistment length. Typicall 4 to 6 year active obligation.
It would do no excellent to look at what jobs are availible in the navy and pick one now. It may or may nor be availible or you may not qualify for that job.
I would recommend going through OCS. You will start out as an officer, O-1, which is more than an E-7 makes
You are obviously not some teeny bopping 18 year ancient, which means that if you enlist you will be constantly surrounded by people that are years younger than you, and you will be the same rank as them. From my experience, it is a lot harder for older people to fit in and gain respect from their peers in the Navy.
Here is a site you need to check out. There is a ton of information about the officer programs.
Also, check out this site, there is a really fantastic forum that I reckon applies to you.
Overall I reckon you’d be more pleased as an officer, use that degree you have and guarantee yourself a better quality of life.
